Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not True Genuine Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank

Spurs supporters who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "they can't be true Spurs supporters" by boss Frank.

Spurs let in two scores in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight home defeat of the year.

But the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when the keeper gave away the ball far beyond his box.

He came out to handle a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.

However, instead of booting it into touch, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who curled a shot into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to Vicario once more, a number of Tottenham fans jeered him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.

One of those jeering episodes truly irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our fans apparently jeered the incident and jeered following, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Dane commented about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] can't be true Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough booing after the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are with each other moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had handed the visitors a early lead prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second-half performance.

Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Hart stated that the second goal was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the part the keeper is performing. He's a great squad member, he's a true leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was heavily involved in what turned out to be the decisive score."

'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Game

Italian international the keeper is in his third campaign with Spurs.

The 29-year-old stated after the match that he had to take the criticism.

"That goal was a mistake of mine, I take responsibility for that," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. That made an more difficult challenge to climb."

He stated being booed "is part of the game".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We cannot be affected by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It is on the team to stay increasingly calm, to focus on our own performance. We are missing in composure and poise to overturn outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it is tough to accept."

'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite Vicario's mistake, it was not an simple goal for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second longest-range Premier League score of the season – following Adams' 43.3 yard strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which incidentally too came on Saturday.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between the keeper coming out of his area and the midfielder striking – which was five seconds following the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson remarked.

"I was surprised none of the defenders went back to the goal line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest lit up a bit.

"Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a little additional opportunity. After that it was solely about trying to achieve the right contact and get it towards goal. I had a positive feeling, as soon as it left my foot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Work Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

While the keeper's error led headlines, this was an overall bad performance for Tottenham to extend their home struggles.

This was their 10th at home loss of 2025 in the league, a shared club record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club Brentford and champions the Reds to play prior to the end of the season.

Only one of those victories have occurred since the manager took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to work against you too – the opening was a deflected shot, the second is a error from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered an additional match. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we were defeated in the early stages.

"We simply need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can utilize to develop."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five attempts and 3.2 shots on target per game in the division – their lowest averages on file in a single season (since at least 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to ride the storm.

"He must accept the stick," the pundit remarked. "He's accepted a high profile role at a huge team with enormous expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.

"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
