Toronto Blue Jays Earn World Series Meeting With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden championship series after 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the American League Championship Series.

Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 series win in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "What an incredible feeling."

The veteran has now hit 23 total October home runs, making him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I want up in that spot other than Springer with his post-season brilliance," said Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the early in the series, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a championship series.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "there's no question that it hurts" after his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but praised their work this season.

"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we ended up on the losing end of this one," he added.

Toronto claimed the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
