Raducanu made it to the third stage in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in her final two events of the year because of a medical condition she has been battling over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in events in Asia but opted to return home to rest and recuperate ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans will involve coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the final set versus Zhu because of back discomfort that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one made the last eight of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
