President Trump Invites Relatives of Attacked Military Soldiers to White House

Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Invitation

The president stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed the press. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in Washington DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors desired. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the head of her former high school, informed the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Government Changes

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the administration to halt asylum applications and cease granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told the program that she aimed to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” the governor informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
